Candace Donaldson-Scott, EdS, LPC, NCC

Hello! I’m Candace Donaldson-Scott, a licensed therapist with expertise in working with young adults, adults, those who have experienced trauma, and addressing women’s issues. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and empowering them to create positive change. With years of experience and a warm, compassionate approach, I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and personal goals. As a trauma therapist with an EdS in traumatology, I have the expertise and specialized knowledge to provide compassionate and effective support to individuals who have experienced profound trauma, helping them navigate their healing journey with understanding and resilience.

Specializations:

  1. Young Adults: I have a particular interest in working with young adults who are facing transitional phases in their lives, such as college or career decisions, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and managing stress and anxiety. I aim to provide guidance, support, and practical tools to assist them in successfully transitioning into adulthood.
  2. Adults: I have extensive experience working with adults of all ages, addressing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, and personal growth. My goal is to assist adults in gaining insight, developing coping strategies, and fostering resilience, ultimately helping them lead more fulfilling and balanced lives.
  3. Women’s Issues: I specialize in providing therapy to women, addressing a variety of concerns specific to their experiences. This includes but is not limited to body image issues, self-worth, work-life balance, motherhood, relationship dynamics, and empowerment. I create a non-judgmental and supportive space for women to explore their unique challenges and develop strategies for personal growth and well-being.

Therapeutic Approaches:

  1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): I employ CBT techniques to help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress or unhealthy behaviors. By reframing thoughts and implementing practical strategies, clients can learn to change unhelpful behaviors and cultivate healthier habits.
  2. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT is an evidence-based approach that focuses on developing psychological flexibility and embracing values-driven actions. By fostering acceptance, mindfulness, and self-compassion, clients can cultivate resilience and make meaningful changes aligned with their core values.
  3. Mindfulness: I integrate mindfulness techniques into therapy sessions to enhance self-awareness, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. Mindfulness exercises help individuals cultivate present-moment awareness, manage difficult emotions, and develop a greater sense of self-compassion and self-acceptance.

My Approach: In therapy, I provide a non-judgmental and empathetic space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Collaboratively, we work to identify and address the underlying issues contributing to their challenges. I believe in tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs, utilizing evidence-based techniques such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness. My ultimate goal is to empower clients to develop effective coping skills, gain self-insight, and achieve their personal goals.

If you are seeking support and guidance through life’s difficulties or looking to enhance personal growth, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can navigate your journey towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Please note: I am available for online therapy sessions only.
